Here’s my approach to how to draw Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto from Bleach, focusing on the full-body version based on his official appearance. Yamamoto was the Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 and led the 1st Division. Known as the “Founder of the Gotei,” he has an old but imposing look, and his visual design is packed with classic details from the series. His tall frame, robe, long beard, and wooden staff all stand out when drawing him in full.
What to Focus on When Drawing Yamamoto
- Large draped captain’s haori with exaggerated sleeves and length.
- Bald head with deep wrinkles, long eyebrows, and sharp cheekbones.
- Long white beard tied down with a band.
- Simple sandals and visible toes at the bottom of the robe.
- One hand over the other gripping a staff, giving a calm but authoritative stance.
Once you’re done with Yamamoto, you can go on to draw other Bleach characters like Kenpachi Zaraki, Yoruichi Shihoin, Kisuke Urahara, or Retsu Unohana to expand your Bleach drawing lineup.
Reading the Drawing Guide Colors
- Red Color: Indicates the current step you should be working on.
- Black Color: Marks all the lines already completed in the earlier steps.
- Grey Color: Outlines the rough construction sketch used to build the pose.
