Create a Classic Haunted House Silhouette in 11 Easy Steps

In this fourth haunted house drawing guide, we’ll focus on creating a simple, classic silhouette of a spooky Halloween scene. This haunted house features a full moon, bats, and the eerie charm we associate with Halloween nights. Compared to earlier haunted house guides, this one emphasizes clean, simple lines that form a bold silhouette. Let’s get started!

A Spooky Haunted House

This haunted house scene includes some of the classic elements of Halloween. Here’s a list of focus points to help you envision the drawing:

  • A crooked haunted house with simple, arched windows
  • A large full moon illuminating the background
  • Bats flying around the moon
  • A fence on either side of the house

This scene is straightforward and clean, ideal for those who enjoy the simplicity of Halloween silhouettes.

Don’t forget to check out other 3 haunted houses in completely different styles: a silhouette, a house with ghosts, a strict style house.

Step-by-Step Guide: Colors and Focus Points

In this drawing guide, we’ll use two main colors to help guide you through the process:

  • Red Color: Indicates the step you are currently focusing on.
  • Black Color: Represents lines that have already been drawn.

Remember, while the drawing will take on a silhouette style, starting with light sketch lines will help ensure your proportions are correct before you fill in the black areas. Each step will build on the previous one until you complete the haunted house scene!

Step 1 – Start by drawing a simple black shape for the ground to act as the base of the haunted house.

Step 2 – Draw two vertical lines for the house’s walls, and a roof shape above them that mirrors the ground shape but is twice smaller.

Step 3 – Add another pair of vertical lines above the first walls to form the second floor, and sketch slightly curved lines above these for the sides of the second-floor roof.

Step 4 – Draw a tower in the middle of the house, complete with a triangular roof, and connect the second-floor roof to the sides of the tower.

Step 5 – Sketch the door shape on the ground floor, with two windows beside it. For the second floor, add a small window in the center and two larger ones on the sides. Don’t forget to add a rectangular window on the tower and a circular window on the tower’s triangular roof.

Step 6 – Fill in the walls and roof with solid black to create the silhouette effect, leaving the door and windows blank.

Step 7 – Draw a chimney on one side of the roof, add crossed lines inside the windows for extra detail, and complete the roof silhouette on the second floor.

Step 8 – Add a fence on both sides of the house.

Step 9 – Sketch a stylized moon in the background, complete with crater shapes to give it texture.

Step 10 – To balance the scene, draw a few bat silhouettes flying around the moon and add some small dots and simple shapes to the moon’s surface for extra detail.

Step 11 – Review your drawing, fix any small details, and optionally ink over your lines for a cleaner look.
