Caine’s little sidekick has been lurking inside that top hat since episode one, popping up at the worst possible moments with that blank stare and oversized grin. This step-by-step tutorial walks through how to draw Bubble, the secondary antagonist voiced by series creator Gooseworx in The Amazing Digital Circus.
Sketching the Simplest and Scariest Character in the Circus
The whole drawing takes just 10 images to complete, with the last one showing the colored version. Bubble looks deceptively easy because he is literally a circle, but the placement of his teeth and the proportions of that massive mouth relative to his eyes can throw the whole thing off if you rush through the construction phase. The early step locks down the circle before any details go in.
What Makes Bubble Look Like Bubble
- Round bubble body, iridescent purple tint
- Mouth takes up most of the lower half
- Large sharp triangular teeth, top and bottom
- Small round black eyes with highlights
- Permanently vacant, wide-open expression
Bubble lives inside Caine’s hat, so pairing this sketch with Caine in his ringmaster form makes for a solid duo on the page. For the god-powered version of his owner, Caine’s god form is also on the site. And if you want another creature-type character, The Fudge gives you something with a lot more mass to work with.
What the Step Colors Tell You
Three colors keep each step clear so you always know what belongs where:
- Red Color: lines added in the current step.
- Black Color: lines completed earlier.
- Gray Color: base sketch for structure.
