Step 2: Continue this line to form the underside of the body.
Step 3: Let’s continue drawing our cute whale shark by adding the pectoral fin that is closer to us.
Step 4: From the back edge of the pectoral fin, continue the underside line to where the tail will be.
Step 5: Draw the outline of the tail fin.
Step 6: Draw a line to outline the front part above the mouth, and to the right of this line, draw a circle to outline the eye of our cartoon whale shark.
Step 7: Inside the eye outline, draw a circle or oval and fill it with black, leaving a smaller circle or oval uncolored for the highlight.
Step 8: Below the line representing the front part of the body, draw a crescent or banana shape for the whale shark’s open, smiling mouth, and fill it with black.
Step 9: Add small lines at the corners of the mouth to define its shape. Also, include the visible part of the second pectoral fin peeking from the opposite side. Draw the dorsal fin and add two small fins, one on top and one on the bottom, near the tail.
Step 10: Draw four slightly curved lines on the underside of the whale shark to represent texture. Also, add a line on the second pectoral fin from the previous step for detail.
Step 11: Draw a thin line separating the top and bottom parts of the whale shark’s body to distinguish the different colors.
Step 12: Along the upper part of the whale shark’s body, the pectoral fin, dorsal fin, and partially on the tail, draw many small, irregular circles to create the pattern for our cartoon whale shark.
Step 13: Now that we’ve completed the main sketch of our cute whale shark, refine any details, erase unnecessary lines, and if you like, outline the sketch with a pen or ink. Once the ink is dry, erase the pencil lines to prepare the drawing for coloring.
Step 14: In this image, you see how I colored this cartoon whale shark. You don’t have to follow it exactly; feel free to use your creativity and pick any colors you like. The top is usually dark blue, while the underside can be light beige or greenish-yellow-white.
