Want to learn how to draw a cute cartoon shark? This guide is here to make the process fun and easy! With its playful design, rounded features, and big, expressive eyes, this shark is an adorable addition to any sketchbook. Let’s get started!
Key Features of a Cute Cartoon Shark’s Design
A rounded, smooth body with a plump, cartoon-like shape for extra charm.
Big, shiny eyes that create a cheerful and lively expression.
A wide, friendly smile with tiny teeth and a small tongue peeking out.
Small, rounded dorsal and pectoral fins that emphasize the cartoon style.
A short tail fin that completes its whimsical appearance.
Bright blue coloring with a white underside.
After perfecting your cute cartoon shark, try drawing other fun sea creatures like dolphins, blue whales, or even a cartoon orca. It’s a fantastic way to build a colorful and entertaining marine collection.
Step-by-Step Guide and Color Guidelines
Red Color: Highlights the step you’re actively working on.
Black Color: Shows the lines you’ve completed in earlier steps.
These color-coded steps will make it simple to follow along and keep your progress organized from start to finish.
Step 1: Draw a single curved line that forms the top part of the shark’s body, extending to where the tail fin begins.
Step 2: Draw an oval shape on the left side that touches the line from the previous step for the shark’s eye, and to the right of it, closer to the top line, draw an incomplete circle for a cartoonish outline of the shark’s second eye.
Step 3: Continue shaping the shark’s body by drawing a curved line downward and to the right from the eye outline you created in the previous step. Then, using a single line, create a simple outline of the pectoral fin.
Step 4: Complete the shark’s body outline by drawing a short line downward and to the right from the top line, extending to where the tail fin will be. From the pectoral fin, add another short line ending at about the same point as the top one.
Step 5: Draw the tail fin of our cute shark.
Step 6: Draw the second pectoral fin, partially hidden behind the body, and add the dorsal fin on the top line of the shark’s body.
Step 7: Draw the outline of the shark’s mouth, forming a wide, open shape that looks like a smile.
Step 8: Inside the eye outlines drawn earlier, add smaller circular shapes for the shark’s pupils. Fill them in with black, leaving small uncolored circles at the top for highlights.
Step 9: Add final details. Draw the shark’s nostrils between the eyes. For the mouth, fill in the shape but leave uncolored areas at the top for three rounded teeth and at the bottom for the tongue. Below the right eye, draw three curved lines for gills.
Step 10: We’ve reached the final step of our cute cartoon shark guide. Here, refine any details, add any missing elements from previous steps, and clean up your sketch to complete the drawing.
Step 11: Now you can color your shark. I used a shade of blue for the top part, leaving the underside and the area around the mouth white, since sharks generally have two main colors. I colored the tongue a reddish shade. You can use this as a reference or pick your own colors to add some flair.
