In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to draw Ms. Chalice, a charming character from the Cuphead game. This guide will take you step by step through the process, making it easy and enjoyable.
Key Features of Ms. Chalice
- Light Yellow Chalice Body: Ms. Chalice is an anthropomorphic chalice with a light yellow color and a golden lip and handles.
- Golden-and-White Striped Straw: She has a straw sticking out of her head, similar to Mugman, with golden and white stripes.
- Round Eyes with Eyelashes: Her eyes are round with three eyelashes on each.
- Golden Ballerina Flats: She wears golden ballerina flats that match her overall design perfectly.
- Signature Outfit: Ms. Chalice is dressed in a black long-sleeve shirt, a light blue skirt with white gloves with cuffs.
After you finish drawing Ms. Chalice, you might want to try drawing other Cuphead characters like Cuphead himself, Goopy Le Grande, or King Dice. Each character has a unique design and brings its own challenge to your drawing skills.
About This Drawing Guide
This guide is designed to be simple and clear, making it perfect for anyone who wants to draw Ms. Chalice. We’ll start with basic shapes and gradually add the details that make Ms. Chalice such a delightful character. Here’s how the guide is structured:
- Red: Focus on these lines for the current step.
- Black: These lines show what you’ve already drawn in the previous steps.
- Grey: These are guidelines to help keep your drawing in proportion.
By following these steps, you’ll build up your drawing piece by piece, until you have a completed image of Ms. Chalice ready for color and detail.
Start by drawing simple shapes to outline Ms. Chalice’s head, body, legs, and feet. This will form the base structure for the character.
Add slightly curved vertical and horizontal lines on the head shape to mark the center of her face. Draw two small vertical lines on the horizontal line to show where the eyes will go. Finish the basic sketch with simple shapes for the arms and hands.
Draw a line to define the side of Ms. Chalice’s head, extending it sideways to the upper part of her left arm. Add an oval for her nose below the horizontal face guideline.
Sketch two ovals to outline Ms. Chalice’s eyes, placing them on the previously marked eye placement lines as it is shown in the image below.
Add slightly smaller ovals inside the eye outlines to create the eyeballs. Fill them with black, leaving triangular blank shapes on the left sides for highlights. Sketch a shape of her mouth.
Draw the tongue inside Ms. Chalice’s mouth, filling the remaining space with black. Add a small triangle below her right eye and three eyelashes on the side of her left eye. Sketch a twirl line for the outer part of the handle on her head.
Complete the handle on the left side of her head and add another handle slightly visible on the right side of her head.
Finish outlining the shape of Ms. Chalice’s head, rounding off her chalice design.
Sketch the outline of the straw coming out of her head, then finish drawing the left hand up to the glove area.
Add two lines across the straw to create the stripes. Begin sketching the left glove by drawing the palm and the first finger, with the remaining fingers to be added next.
Complete the left glove by adding the three missing fingers. Then, sketch the body shape to connect the head, arms, and legs.
Draw the wavy skirt below the body shape, giving Ms. Chalice her signature look.
Sketch the right arm down to the glove area, keeping it proportional to the left arm.
Draw the right hand inside the glove.
Add three lines to the right glove, a classic detail seen in many cartoon characters. Then, sketch the legs down to the shoes.
Outline the shoes at the bottom of the legs, completing Ms. Chalice’s drawing.
Once you’ve finished drawing Ms. Chalice, take a moment to review your work. If everything looks good, gently erase any remaining guidelines. If desired, ink the drawing to make the lines bold and defined. You can also download this image and print it to use as a coloring page.
You can also choose to color her in her signature light yellow shade, with the black shirt, blue skirt, and golden shoes. You can use the reference image for guidance.
