For this guide, I’m going to walk you through how to draw the Thousand Sunny, the current ship of the Straw Hat Pirates from One Piece. The Thousand Sunny has a lot of complex structures and small features, so this is a detailed drawing, especially with its rigging, figurehead, and deck details. Take your time with each part as we build it piece by piece.
The Thousand Sunny Ship Details to Focus On
- Brigantine-type ship with multiple masts and sails
- Lion head figurehead with a stylized mane at the front
- Circular shield with crossbones under the figurehead
- Large observation tower with a crow’s nest
- Rounded deckhouse structures with visible windows
- Decorative wooden details along the sides of the ship
- Visible cannons along both sides of the hull
- Gaon Cannon located inside the figurehead
- Coup de Burst cannon at the back
- Flags on top of the masts with simple Straw Hat Pirate symbols
You can also check out some other characters from the series to draw after this, like Jinbe, Yamato in Zoan Form, Luffy in Gear 5, or Sanji and Nami since they’re all connected to the Thousand Sunny’s story.
The Color Code I Use in This Thousand Sunny Drawing Guide
To make the steps clear, I’ve used a simple color system for each stage of the drawing:
- Red Color: shows the current step you are working on.
- Black Color: shows the lines you have already drawn in previous steps.
- Grey Color: shows the basic sketch outlines to help you place the elements correctly.
Follow these guides to see the drawing progress more easily as you work through each part of the Thousand Sunny drawing.
