How to draw Hawks

Those wide red wings spread across the frame before anything else registers, and that silhouette alone tells you why Hawks stands out across the My Hero Academia roster. This tutorial walks through how to draw Hawks in a relaxed, hands-in-pockets pose with his full wingspan on display.

Wings, Jacket, and the Pose That Makes This One Work

The tutorial runs 19 steps and ends on a fully colored result, so both line work and color fill are covered. The large feathered wings spread wide across most of the composition, which means managing symmetry and feather layering takes up a good portion of the steps. The fur-lined jacket and baggy pants reflect a casual variant of the costume rather than the standard hero suit, so the shapes are a bit looser and more forgiving than armored costume designs.

Hawks at a Glance

  • Messy blonde hair, yellow hawk-eye mask
  • Large red feathered wings spread wide
  • Tan fur-lined jacket over black hero suit
  • Tan baggy pants, black boots and gloves
  • Relaxed standing pose, hands in pockets

If you want more MHA characters to sketch after this, Muscular and Izuku with Blackwhip active are solid follow-ups that cover very different body builds and energy levels. Denki Kaminari in his upgraded costume is another one worth trying once you have the costume folds down.

Reading the Step Colors

Each step image uses a three-color system to show what is new and what is already done:

  • Red Color: lines added in the current step.
  • Black Color: lines completed earlier.
  • Gray Color: base sketch for structure.
