Master How to Draw Sukuna’s Face from Jujutsu Kaisen

In this tutorial, I’ll be showing you how to draw Sukuna (his face) from Jujutsu Kaisen — maybe better known as the King of Curses. His appearance is super iconic, sporting some pretty distinctive tattoos and a sharp, menacing expression. Now, let’s get into the details step by step.

Key Features of Sukuna’s Face

  • Tattoos: Black lines across his forehead, cheeks, and chin that emphasize his menacing aura.
  • Eyes: A pair of red eyes on either side of his head, while the right pair is orientated differently and placed on a plate-like structure.
  • Hair: Spiky short hair of pink-red color.
  • Expression: A sharp, confident look with a sinister edge.
  • Facial Structure: Strong jaw, symmetrical features that stand out with his tattoos.

All of these details make Sukuna one of the most visually recognizable characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, so after you draw his face, you may continue with other characters from the same anime, such as Yuji Itadori or Megumi Fushiguro.

How This Guide Works

This tutorial uses color coding to help you through the drawing process:

  • Red Color: It shows which step you are currently working on.
  • Black Color: Shows the lines you’ve already completed.
  • Grey Color: This is for basic sketch lines of the structure.

Using these colors, you’ll draw Sukuna’s face step by step, paying close attention to proportions in order to capture his iconic features.

Step 1: Start by drawing a circle and a vertical line down the center to divide the face into two halves. Extend the vertical line slightly below the circle by about a quarter of the circle’s height. Next, draw a curved downward arc to mark the placement of the eyes. Use simple lines to sketch the lower jaw and chin. This is a basic sketch, so use light pencil strokes to make it easier to erase these guidelines later.

Step 2: Using simple lines, indicate the placement of Sukuna’s nose, eyes, and ears. Add the upper hairline as well. Slightly to the left of the vertical line drawn in the previous step, sketch a slightly curved line to represent the plate-like structure that covers half of his face.

Step 3: Draw Sukuna’s chin and the lower part of his face. On the right side, extend the line up to the ear, while on the left side, stop slightly below, without reaching the ear.

Step 4: On the left side of the drawing, sketch the structure of Sukuna’s face that resembles the plate-like feature described earlier. Draw the left and upper sections of this plate to define its shape.

Step 5: Add volume to the top and right side of the plate structure by extending beyond the line drawn in the previous step.

Step 6: Outline Sukuna’s nose and the eye on the right side of the drawing, using the curved guideline from Step 1 as a reference.

Step 7: Draw the eyeball of the eye located on the right side of our drawing (which is actually Sukuna’s left eye) and outline the shape of his eyebrow above it, dividing the eyebrow into three distinct sections.

Step 8: Draw the outlines of Sukuna’s ears and add the hairlines extending from the center to the right side of the drawing.

Step 9: Draw three additional eyes. Two of them are on the left side of the drawing, positioned on the plate structure. Their placement and shape are distinct from the regular eye drawn earlier, appearing more demonic in nature. Add a smaller eye to the right and below the previously drawn eye. Lastly, sketch the portion of the plate located to the left of the nose on our drawing.

Step 10: Draw the visible portion of Sukuna’s mouth, located in the center and to the right of the drawing. Additionally, add eyeballs to the three eyes drawn in the previous step.

Step 11: Outline the overall shape of Sukuna’s hairstyle, defining the contours of his hair.

Step 12: Add details to Sukuna’s face, such as lines around the eyes to better visualize their shape and depth. Additionally, add a few extra lines on the ear located on the right side of the drawing for added detail.

Step 13: Add additional lines to define the shape of Sukuna’s nose. Draw the black tattoos on his face, including the chin and other necessary areas. Additionally, add a scar with three stitches on the upper right side of his face.

Step 14: Add additional details to enhance the shape of Sukuna’s face and ear. Above the forehead, beyond the circle drawn in Step 1 as the face base, sketch a series of hairlines to define his hairstyle.

Step 15: Add additional lines to Sukuna’s hairstyle to enhance the overall volume and texture of his hair.

Step 16: Starting from the lower parts of the ears, draw the outline of Sukuna’s clothing downward and outward. This includes the draped garment or cloak-like feature he is often depicted wearing.

Step 17: Add a few lines on the upper part of Sukuna’s clothing to depict folds or details. Also, draw lines that define Sukuna’s chest and neck muscles, emphasizing the shape and structure of this part of his body.

Step 18: This is a fairly simple step. Draw the visible parts of Sukuna’s tattoos located below the middle of his chest on the sides and those visible on his neck above the clothing. These are sharp, tongue-like black lines.

Step 19: At this stage, we have completed drawing Sukuna’s face. Carefully erase the lines from Steps 1 and 2 that were used to create the base shape and detail placement for Sukuna’s face. This will remove any unnecessary guidelines. Check for any missing details you might have overlooked or erase anything that disrupts the overall drawing. Optionally, you can outline the completed sketch with a pen or ink. If you choose to do so, wait for the ink to dry completely, then erase all pencil marks to achieve a clean inked drawing.
