Simple Guide to Drawing Okarun’s Face from Dandadan

Let me walk you through how to draw Okarun’s face from anime Dandadan. I promise it’s going to be straightforward and fun. Okarun is a cool character, especially with his messy hair and oversized glasses. Follow along, and in no time, you’ll have a sketch of him!

Okarun’s Features to Focus On

Here are some important details to focus on while drawing Okarun (a.k.a. Ken Takakura). His design is simple, but these features will really help bring the character to life:

  • Glasses: His large, round glasses are a key feature of his face. They cover most of his face and give him a nerdy yet serious look.
  • Expression: Okarun often has a serious or slightly neutral expression, which matches his determination.
  • Outfit: He wears a typical gakuran school uniform, but only shoulders are visible in this drawing.

If you’re into Dandadan, after drawing Okarun, you should definitely try drawing other characters like Momo Ayase, her grandma Seiko, Aira, or even himself but in full height to complete your collection!

A Simple Color Guide for the Drawing Process

Here’s a little trick to make following the steps even easier. In the images that go along with the tutorial, you’ll see color coding:

  • Red Color: This shows the current step you’re working on.
  • Black Color: These are lines you’ve already drawn in previous steps.
  • Grey Color: These are your basic sketch lines to help with proportions and positioning.

This color coding makes it easier to know exactly where to focus during each step of the process, especially for areas like the glasses or hair.

Step 1: Start with a circle for the base of Okarun’s face, and add a chin shape below the circle. Then, draw a slightly curved vertical line down the center to help with symmetry.

Step 2: Add a horizontal line crossing the vertical one from Step 1 to guide the eye glasses placement. Sketch short lines on the vertical line to mark where the nose and mouth will be. Draw the general shape of the ears on the sides and a rough outline of the hairstyle.

Step 3: Define the chin and outline the ear on the left side from our view. This gives the face more structure and will guide you in the next steps.

Step 4: Draw two large circles for Okarun’s glasses, making sure they are evenly placed and cover most of the upper face area.

Step 5: Add the second ear on the right side and sketch the visible parts of the glasses’ arches on the sides. Draw the hairline across the forehead, which will frame the face.

Step 6: Outline Okarun’s hairstyle, giving it some spiky details to match his character.

Step 7: Now sketch the visible parts of the eyebrows underneath the glasses. Add small lines for the nosetriills and draw the mouth using a simple line. Add details to the ears, and don’t forget the central part of the glasses frame (the part that sits on the bridge of the nose).

Step 8: Draw the collar of his gakuran uniform, which is part of his school outfit, just below the neck.

Step 9: Finish the collar by adding a small part below the chin and sketch out the shoulders to give the character a bit more structure.

Step 10: Look over the whole drawing and observe if any lines or proportions need adjusting. Erase the rough sketch lines, making sure to clean up the edges of the face, hair, and glasses. If you’re happy with the result, you can ink the sketch for a more defined look. Use a fine-tipped pen to carefully trace the final lines. Work in small sections to avoid smudging. Once the ink dries, erase any remaining pencil marks to leave a clean outline.

Step 12: For coloring, Okarun’s hair is dark, and his glasses should have a light reflection effect. Add shading where the light would naturally hit.
